Corn Islands (mainly little corn)

Transport 

  • Bus from Managua to El Rama = $6
  • El Rama to Bluefields panga (small boat) = $10
  • Boat from Bluefields to Big Corn = $10 ( Capt. D)
  • Big corn to little corn panga = $6
  • Flight from Managua to Big Corn (one way) = $106 return = ~$170
  • Flights booked online incur booking fees = $15 (we rocked up at airport no charges)
  • Departure tax at airport = $2
  • Once in Big Corn all taxis to any destination should be = $1 pp

Accomodation

  • Big Corn, Sweet Dreams Hotel = $20 double room shared bathroom (horrible place... We arrived late by boat and didnt have much choice)
  • Average prices in Big Corn for double room = $15 
  • Little corn; Three Brothers hostel, double room, shared bathroom = $15
  • Little corn beach bungalows range = $15 - $40 (try other side of island to where boats drop you off, beside "cool spot"

Food and drink

  • Amazing lobster in Habana Libre = $12
  • Lobster bought from fisherman we cooked ourselves = $6 per pound (enough for 2 people)
  • Western dish average = $8 - $10
  • Pizza $7
  • Beer in a bar = $2
  • Small bottle of water in shop =$0.75
  • Fresh juice = $2.50 (very good lemonade!)

Street food

  • Buying your own food and cooking not that cheap as supplies limited. Cheap foods are; Eggs = $0.20, Coconut bread = $0.75
  • Hot Pattie's = $0.75

Activities

  • PADI open water dive course = $290 (recommended here as more chilled than the dive factory that is Utila)
  • Single dive = $35
  • Snorkle tour = $20
  • Snorkle hire = $5
  • Yoga classes = Free to $8
  • Paddle board rental = $10 per hour
  • Kite surf 2 day course = $270
