Utila

Transport

  •  From Copan- Chicken bus to San Pedro Sula = $7,Dianne Express bus to La Cieba = $6, Taxi to ferry terminal = $2.50pp, Princessboat to Utila = $27 one way. Total = $42.50
  •  Leon (Nicaragua)– La Ceiba shuttle = $80
  • Within the island – Tuk tuks = $1pp around the center. (they have a chart in them with exact prices)

Accommodation

  • On days your diving can get reduced prices onaccommodation. E.g at Trudy’s dorms for non divers = $8, dorms for divers = $5(they didn’t seem to be keen to take non divers on though… they make theirmoney from those that dive..)
  • Birds of Paradise- lovely double (attic) room,en-suite = $20

Food and drink

  •  Local plate = under $5
  • Western food = $7
  • Breakfast sandwich = $2.50
  • Fresh lemonade = $2
  • Rumanade = $2
  • Hot chocolate = $2
  • Beer = $2
  • Rum and mixer = $2 (cheapest rum we’ve seen fora while!)

Street food

  • Baleadas (Wraps) = $2.50
  • BBQ chicken = $5

Activities

  • Diving- average prices from the Island (check with operator if tax included in prices)
  • PADI open water = $300
  • Advanced = $300
  • One dive = $35
  • Fun dives (2 tanks) = $62
  • Night dive = $43
  • Alton’s are the only ones that really dive on the north side of the island, they did seem really professional but prices are around 15% higher than everywhere else… probably worth the money though.
  • Chill on a beach = Free
  • Snorkel gear rental = $5 for 5 hours
  • Wake board rental = $18 for 2 hours
  • Fishing rod rental = $6 for 5 hours
  • Quad bike rental = $15 per hour
  • Bicycle rental = $5 per day
  • Motorbike rental = $25 per day
